Our Story

U Skin Cosmetic Medicine Specialists was initially established under the name Jeune in the year 2000 by Melissa Whalen. It is one of the few nurse run and owned clinics in Victoria providing specialised cosmetic medical services, to both women and men. We understand what is required for you to look the best you can, and “as young as you feel”.

You can be confident we will give you an honest appraisal of what we can achieve and we will listen to your needs and expectations. Our aim at U Skin is to give you a natural result, working with you, to gradually regain or enhance your youthful beauty on both your face and body. Using a variety of treatments including lasers, specialised facials, skincare, and of course injectable wrinkle treatments we work with you to help turn back the clock to a more youthful you and enhance your natural beauty.

We have three main sites, Caulfield, Richmond, and Moonee Ponds, at these sites we also provide advanced skincare, and mineral make.

Meet our nurse-led team

Melissa Whalen RN ( formally Melissa Blandfort) has been in the cosmetic medicine industry for over 20 years. Studying at the Alfred hospital she obtained her nursing degree in 1990. She travelled and worked in London and Europe for the next 2 years returning home to work as a nurse mainly in large city hospitals

Unhappy with the politics of large hospitals she began working in Day surgery in a small women’s health clinic. From there she met other nurses who worked with plastic and cosmetic surgeons. They were always looking for experienced nurses in their day surgeries and Melissa began working with them and thus fell into the industry

After working for a few years in theater she began to learn lasers and injectables and found her passion. It was after a chat with one of the filler representatives she was introduced to a DR who wished to start sending nurses into beauty salons to do these treatments

Melissa was one of the first independent nurse injectors in Victoria. After a year working with this doctor Melissa went out on her own and in the year 2000 Jeune was born. For the next 8 years Melissa worked throughout Melbourne and country Victoria also travelling to Queensland providing these services through beauty salons.

Although she loved the life of a mobile injector, once children were on the way this became more difficult. By this stage she was also doing more advanced treatments that she felt were safer done in a clinic setting. She set up the Caulfield/Mckinnon salon as a base and set up Ascot Vale in 2011 where she now spends most of her time

She is now based in the Caulfield/McKinnon site on Wednesdays. She is in Ascot Vale on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. She travels to Geelong once a month. Melissa loves her work and can never imagine doing anything else. She attends conferences and training regularly throughout the year to ensure her skills are kept up to date with the latest in her industry.

Her main passion in the industry is to be able to make people feel better about themselves. She likes her clients to look natural and likes to work with them to address their concerns.

Meet Tracey. Tracey is a fully qualified dermal clinician with over 27 years in the industry. Tracey has a passion for skin and skin care working with the brands Aspect, Aspect Dr and Cosmedix and now Aspect Platinum.

With her extensive background and expertise, clients can trust her recommendations for personalised treatment plans. Her dedication to understanding various skin concerns, from acne to pigmentation, showcases her commitment to helping clients achieve their skincare goals.

Having teenage children herself she also has developed an interest in acne and acne scarring; however, Pigmentation removal is her greatest love. Seeing a client with badly pigmented skin end up with beautiful glowing clear skin gives her the greatest joy.

Tracey derives from seeing her clients achieve beautiful, clear skin. With her knowledge and passion, Tracey undoubtedly makes a positive impact in the lives of her clients.

Allow us to introduce Nurse Kayla, Kayla is a Registered Nurse Division 1 and has years of hospital nursing experience but has always had a love for aesthetics including a passion for fashion and make up.

A few years ago, Kayla embarked on her journey in Cosmetic Nursing at U Skin Clinics, where she received top-tier training under the guidance of industry luminary, Melissa. With a wealth of experience now under her belt she specialises in lip filling, PRP/PRF skin treatments, cheek enhancement, profile balancing and bio remodelling treatments.

Recognised for her discerning eye for aesthetics, Kayla is held in high regard by both colleagues and clients alike.

Introducing Natasha, a Registered Nurse Division 1 and a highly skilled Cosmetic Nurse with over 12 years of diverse experience in aesthetic medicine.
Natasha’s passion for aesthetics, a keen eye for detail and commitment to excellence. Natasha has become a trusted expert in cosmetic injectable treatments.

Her role as a Clinical Specialist/Trainer at Allergan a leading medical aesthetics company in Melbourne that produces the most well-known injectable wrinkle treatment allowed her to not only refine her skills but also teach others.

Natasha’s approach to aesthetics is rooted in a deep appreciation for natural beauty. She believes that cosmetic treatments should enhance, not alter, one’s appearance. She specialises in full face rejuvenation, natural toxin treatments, dermal fillers including more advanced areas including nose and tear trough.

Desi is the welcoming face and efficient organiser behind the scenes at our cosmetic clinic.

Being the first point of contact for clients, greeting them with a warm smile and making them feel comfortable and at ease. Her keen attention to detail and strong organisational skills guarantee that each client receives personalised attention and care from the moment they walk through the door.

As a practice manager/receptionist, Desi oversees the daily operations of the clinic, ensuring everything runs smoothy and efficiently. From managing schedules and coordinating appointments to handling administrative tasks.

Desi’s personal interests include family and friend gatherings, music, dancing, and her dog Max add depth to her character and contribute to her positive energy at work.

Ali is an experienced emergency doctor who has expanded his practice into the world of cosmetic medicine. He combines his expertise in emergency medicine with a focus on enhancing natural beauty.

In cosmetic medicine, Dr Ali a fellowship from the Australasian College for Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine.

Dr Ali feels that looking after people’s emergency needs are important, and aesthetics are also important in people’s ability to feel good in their skin.

He loves the increased confidence he sees in his patients when he is able to help with their concerns. Dr Ali specialises in rejuvenating treatments and provides personalised treatment plans focusing on natural beauty using a combination of dermal fillers, injectable wrinkle treatments, biomodelling and skin treatments.

For all injectable treatments, you require a script from a practitioner. To have a treatment with our nurse you need a script from one of these lovely ladies which is done via Facetime on your phone.

By them prescribing the treatments they also commit to your care should you have a complication so you can rest assured you have a team of specialists looking after you.
