Rosacea
Rosacea is a condition which affects approx 5% of white skinned people. It is unknown what causes rosacea and the condition is never cured but can be controlled. Discover how U Skin Clinics can help.
Rosacea usually begins as a redness on the nose, cheeks, forehead or chin, & less commonly on the neck and chest. This may come and go.
As the condition progresses, small red blood vessels may appear and the skin may look angry and at times dry. Pustules and papules which look like acne may appear. In advanced cases the nose can develop hard red lumps called lobules. Please note this condition is not related to acne. Do not use acne treatments or you could make the condition worse.
It can affect both sexes but is three times more common in women. The usual age of onset is 30 to 60 years, unfortunately lifelong treatment is usually required, but using a combination of treatments we can control even the most severe cases of rosacea.
