Injectable wrinkle treatments help to relax a wrinkle causing muscle, to help improve the appearance of the wrinkle.

They are extremely effective in treating crows feet, frown lines and other wrinkles caused by a muscle contraction. They are generally most effective in people aged from 25 -55 years of age. It takes up to 10 days to have full effect and can last up to 4 months.

Answers to your questions about Injectable Wrinkle Treatments

The product is injected into the offending muscle by a very fine needle. It is usually a very quick procedure. This treats the movement of the muscle. It is injected into the muscle, not the wrinkle.

Most people feel a slight sting and feel that some ice on the face is enough to numb the area. A numbing cream may be applied if you wish but needs to be applied 30 minutes prior to your treatment. Pressure is then applied to the area for a few minutes to prevent bruising and then you are able to resume normal activities.

Directly after the treatment you may have some red marks on the face. This should subside within 30 mins. You may apply makeup (preferably mineral makeup) straight after treatment. You may go back to normal activities immediately but you are advised not to exercise for a few hours after treatment. Facials , microdermabrasion and massage are not recommended for 1 week (7 days) after treatment.

After approximately ten days the wrinkle will appear softer. If the wrinkle is very deep it may take more than one treatment to notice a significant reduction. With this treatment your face appears more relaxed, you do not look like you have a mask on your face. The mask type appearance only happens with extremely large doses of these treatments or when people have also had cosmetic surgery. No one should know you have had a procedure. You will find people start commenting “your looking well”.

This treatment has been around for many years and is used for many other conditions other than, and in addition to wrinkle treatments. In this time there have been no long or short term safety concerns found.

These treatments can be used to treat migraines, excessive sweating, eye twitch and many other conditions which involve muscle spasm such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy.

There are two brands mainly used in Australia. We will call one B and one D. They are both measured in units. We charge on a sliding scale. An average number of units for a female who is 45 in either crows feet or frown lines is 20 units for brand B and 50us brand D. Men sometimes require more, some people with small muscles or young may need less.
